About Me
I remember taking art classes in my early teenage years and clinging to sketching during some of the more difficult times in my life. The pencil gave me an outlet to voice what I could not say in words, and became a friend that understood me when I felt that no one else could. Through life’s highs and lows, the pencil and the paintbrush have been there to allow me to express myself, to share my heart, and teach me patience and endurance. It can be very easy to overlook the depths of who we are individually, but pursing art has taught me to dive into those depths and display the beauty that is found.
I am a self-taught, acrylic painter inspired, both by beauty and unloveliness, light and the darkness. I incorporate many aspects of nature in my pieces, which is a significant comfort to me and a reminder of the delicacy, yet pure resilience, of living things. I find the relationship between the physical and the spiritual impacts us all, whether we realize it or not. This challenges me to grow in more awareness of myself and the world around me.
Pursing art has taught me that our hearts speak in another language. So, we should give it a voice. I hope that others are inspired to explore and express their hearts through creativity. Be happy, be sad, be excited, be apprehensive, be courageous. Life is better in color.
“…And in the handiwork of their craft is their prayer”
(Sirach 38: 31—34).
